SWIFT for Warts

Warts on the foot, called plantar warts or verruca, can be difficult to treat especially in adults.

They survive only in the outer layers of the skin where it is difficult for our bodies immune system to recognise. Warts on the foot have callous overlying making them painful and unsightly.

Being a viral infection, they are contagious with contact and can spread to other areas of our body and from person to person.

FAQ

What is SWIFT WART Therapy

Swift is a relatively new technology developed for the treatment of warts. At Rose Bay Podiatry we have been monitoring the progress of the SWIFT technology over the past 5 years to ensure it was reliable and repeatable in the results. With confidence we have purchased the technology to now offer our clients at Rose Bay Podiatry.

Through various clinical trials it has shown to be the most successful treatment method available in resolving plantar warts at a success rate of 83% (compared to around 30% using topical acids.

SWIFT is medical microwave technology that is highly effective at resolving warts, verrucae or papillomas.

Swift wart therapy has proven itself to be the best wart therapy available.

A focused microwave signal is emitted into the skin to a predetermined depth to ensure only the wart is treated.

SWIFT works by rapidly heating the tissue to 42-45 degrees. This creates a reaction in the wart tissue damaging the infected cells and creating an immune reaction that then reduces and resolves the wart.

The best aspects of SWIFT are:

  • The treatment is provided in under 30mins
  • There is no wound or tissue damage after the treatment
  • There is no scarring
  • No anaesthetic needed
  • No dressings required

Does it hurt?

The rapid heating is only for 2 seconds, it heats the wart to 42-45ºC which can cause discomfort, but dissipates instantly with no tissue damage so patients find very manageable. This temperature range is merely a few degrees warmer than a hot bath, and will not cause any serious tissue damage or scarring.

How long will it take to resolve?

You will have 3 SWIFT treatments 4 weeks apart, then a review at 12 weeks.

The Verruca may resolve at any time during the treatment process, but most commonly between the 3rd treatment and the 12 week review.

10 year old plantar warts resolved within 11 weeks.

After 3 SWIFT treatments, the lesion had completely cleared within 12 weeks.
