Rose Bay Podiatry

Sydney’s Premium Podiatry Clinic

Our podiatrist will undertake a biomechanical or functional assessment to assess the way your foot, leg and body are functioning as you walk or run. Small abnormalities in movement can be the cause of pain or symptoms.

A gait assessment is the movement component of the assessment where we video your foot and leg whilst walking or running to ascertain any abnormalities in your pattern of walking and running. We may do this with and without footwear.

Our podiatrist will examine the joints, muscles and structure of the foot, ankle and leg. We will move and assess joint range of motion, movement and strength. Also assessing leg length and taking measurements to ascertain any abnormalities.

It is important to note that the way in which the foot functions can have an impact on other parts of the body, meaning that issues may arise elsewhere.

After all assessments have been undertaken we will discuss results with you and create a treatment plan which may involve things such as, training regimes, stretches, taping or braces, footwear advice or orthotics.

Elevating Your Mobility: The Integral Role of Functional Assessments at Rose Bay Podiatry

Functional assessments are a cornerstone of podiatric care, offering a window into the intricate workings of your lower limbs and how they influence your overall mobility and quality of life. At Rose Bay Podiatry, we believe in a holistic approach to foot health, which is why we emphasise the value of comprehensive functional assessments in our practice. Here’s a closer look at how these assessments empower us to tailor our care to your unique needs.

Understanding Functional Assessments

A functional assessment is a detailed biomechanical examination that allows our podiatrists to evaluate your foot and lower limb function. This evaluation is critical in identifying any discrepancies or dysfunctions that might contribute to pain, discomfort, or mobility issues. By analysing your gait, posture, and biomechanics, we gain essential insights into your foot health and overall well-being.
